E D J U G O R J E
(pronounced Med-you-gory-a.)
This is in the village of Medjugorje only 30 kms. from Mostar, a place where it
is reported that on the 24th of June 1981, the Virgin Mary first
appeared to six children; Jakov Colo, Mirjana Dragicevic, Ivanka Ivankovic,
Vicka Ivankovic, Marijia Pavlovic and Ivan Dragicevic. The Blessed Virgin still
appears daily to four of the young people, Jajov, Vicka, Marija and Ivan and on
special occasions to Mirjana and Ivanka. Each of the seers is to receive ten
secrets. Two of the seers, Ivanka and Mirjana, have each received the tenth and
final secret; the other young people have received nine. Pilgrims still flock to
Medjugorje for the anniversary.

June 20 – 24, 2010: MEDJUGORJE.
Experience the beauty and peace of this simple village. During our stay in
Medjugorje we have the opportunity to share faith with thousands of pilgrims
from all over the world. Our local guide accompanies us throughout the week.
During this stay we have have activities including the following:
-
Each morning at 10:00 am, we may assemble at
St James Church for the English-language Mass. Follow the same path up to
Apparition Hill where the young visionaries first encountered Our Lady.
Touch and pray before the cross that commemorates the spot where Mary first
appeared to the visionaries.
-
Each evening at 5:00 pm, we may join the
villagers and pilgrims to pray the rosary. The apparition takes place at
5:40 pm followed by a Croatian Mass. On Tuesdays and Saturdays, the
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is held and on Fridays the Veneration of
the Cross is held in the Church.
-
Each evening during Croatian Mass, there is
the Blessing of the Sick and blessing of items you have brought with you.
-
Our guide will arrange meetings with the
some of the visionaries (if available during the anniversary). We have the
opportunity to climb Krizevac Mountain where, in 1933, the villagers built a
30' high cross on the anniversary of Jesus' crucifixion. Visit and pray at
"Blue Cross" which is a place of great healings and graces- a very special
place at the base of Apparition Hill.
-
We visit the Oasis of Peace, which has an
incredible 24-hour Adoration Chapel.
-
We visit the community
of Cenacolo.
-
Visit Father Jozo's parish and attend his
highly inspirational talk, and receive his powerful healing blessing. When
the apparitions began in 1981, Father Jozo was the pastor of St James parish
and is considered by many to be one of the highlights of any pilgrimage to
Medjugorje. Of course, the visit is contingent upon his schedule.
June 25, 2010: MEDJUGORJE.
Attend the anniversary activities.
June 26,
2010: MEDJUGORJE - DUBROVNIK - NORTH AMERICA.
Early this morning, we depart to Dubrovnik and the airport for our flight home –
the end of a most enjoyable journey.
OR
June 26,
2010: Optional Tour Available - DUBROVNIK.
After a restful night and a hearty breakfast, we drive to Dubrovnik for a
walking tour of “The Jewel of the Adriatic’ so called by Lord Byron. Although
over 70% of the buildings were damaged in some way during the 1991 war, most of
the damage has now been repaired and the city is back to its stunning best.
Originally a Venetian port and one of the world’s major ports and trading
centers up until the 17th century, Dubrovnik is classified in its
entirety by UNESCO as a world heritage site and it’s easy to see why: Our guide
will take us to see the 15th century Onofrios fountain, built to
celebrate the completion of the city’s water system; the magnificent Rector’s
Palace which dates from the 17th century and has been destroyed and
rebuilt several times; the tiny Sigurata church that dates from the 11th
century; St. Blaise’s church with the small silver statue of St. Blaise that
survived the fire which destroyed the original church in 1706; and the
stunningly pretty Sponza Palace whose delicate ‘lace’ stonework has survived
multiple earthquakes. The afternoon is free to spend as we wish before our
dinner and overnight.
June 27, 2010:
DUBROVNIK - NORTH AMERICA. We depart
this morning for the airport and our flight home – the end of a most enjoyable
journey.
